As an Integrated Education Instructor, you will help students reconnect with one another, celebrate their successes, and support their SEL growth while engaging in a fun camp experience.

INTEGRATED EDUCATION INSTRUCTOR

We are looking for mature, enthusiastic, hardworking and caring individuals who role model the principles of Honesty, Caring, Respect and Responsibility in words and actions, to be a member of the Sherman Lake camp team. We hire seasonal staff for these programs:

Fall and Winter/Spring – School Programs:
Integrated Education Instructor/Counselor – helping schools transform by bringing character development lessons learned at camp back to the classroom (Camp to Classroom)

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Qualifications:
Applicants must be 18 years or older, available Monday through Friday, days and overnights.

Responsibilities:

  • Integrated Education Instructors will facilitate experiential and character-based curriculum for local area schools throughout our 3 – 5 day residential programs.

  • Set up a cabin group of students from beginning to end using tools like community commitment, teambuilding games, and a bag of tricks to create a great experience for every student.

  • Set up and facilitate all programs run through Sherman Lake Y Camp such as climbing, archery/mineshaft, fire building, team building/low ropes, kayaking/canoeing, geocaching/orienteering, nature & art (training provided).

  • Positive reinforcement, character education integration, and strength-based approach to program delivery and conflict resolution.

  • Spend the nights in cabins with the students.

Dates of employment:
Positions are available during the Fall (September to mid-December) and Winter/Spring (late January to late May). Free certification courses are available for Sherman Lake Integrated Education staff prior to staff training.

Salary Range:
$75-$100/day. Staff have an option to live onsite. As an additional benefit, staff receive a YMCA membership during their time of employment.
