DAY CAMP

Day campers will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of program opportunities such as swimming, canoeing, archery, nature appreciation, hiking, arts and crafts, songs, skits, special theme activities, and many more surprises! Best of all, activities are designed toward the interest and skill levels appropriate for each age group, and all activities promote the four character development principles of Honesty, Caring, Respect, and Responsibility. Each camper will experience success-building skills that last a lifetime!

Transportation:
Sherman Lake YMCA Camp is committed to providing a transportation option for our day camp programs. Families can secure their spot by registering for a Battle Creek, Kalamazoo, or Portage pick-up and drop-off sites when registering. For more information about day camp transportation, please click here.

Tiered Pricing:

Realizing that families have different abilities to pay, Sherman Lake YMCA Camp has adopted a voluntary tier pricing structure. Tier pricing is not income-based but is based on what your family is able to pay. You choose what you pay, and no additional paperwork is required!

Jr. Robotics Camps

Campers will spend half their day exploring simple real-world applications for robots, sensors, and coding. They'll use the LEGO WeDo 2.0 kit to learn about simple machines as they build and program robots to move and interact with the world.  They will also focus on programming with Ozobot Bit -- a small, line-following robot that can be programmed using colored markers, and Pro-bot, a programmable race car.

Grades: Entering 1-3
Please note: Day campers are limited to one robotics camp each summer and 6 (six) overall sessions per summer.

Introduction to Robotics

For our campers who are entering 3rd-5th grade and want to practice their engineering and critical thinking skills, we have Introduction to Robotics. Campers will spend 2 hours each day exploring real-world applications for robots, sensors, and coding. Campers will also build robots with Lego Boost sets, program a Dash robot to speak and learn about picture-based programming languages with Ozobot. No previous robotics experience is required!

Grades: Entering 3-5
Please note: Day campers are limited to one robotics camp and 6 (six) overall sessions per summer.

Gilmore Piano Day Camp

Come and play! The Gilmore’s summer music camp is for pianists of all levels who have taken a minimum of one year of piano lessons. Day campers have daily small group piano lessons and exploration of technology and music-making with Jazzy Jams, plus hands-on art projects. In the afternoon, campers will participate in traditional, outdoor camp activities. Campers are encouraged to practice daily at home to help them prepare for the end-of-camp recital.

A placement audition is required for all piano campers-- directions for video submissions will be provided to registered campers. Enrollment is limited. Call 269-342-1166, or visit Gilmore Piano Camp for more information.

Grades: Entering 1-8
