REOPENING FAQS
Do I have to wear a mask?
VACCINATED members and guests – wearing a mask in the YMCA is OPTIONAL.
Members and guests who are NOT vaccinated are REQUIRED to wear a mask while at the YMCA.
We will not be requiring proof of vaccination from members or guests but ask that everyone follow our four core values of Honesty, Caring, Respect and Responsibility when entering the facility.
What are the requirements for entering the Y?
Members and staff are required to have their temperature taken upon entry to the Sherman Lake YMCA. This will occur at the Wellness Station located in the front lobby of the Y. Members with a temperature of 100.4 or higher will not be allowed to enter for the day.
Each member will also be asked five health screening questions each time they enter the Y.
Members must check both in and out at the Front Desk each time they use the Rec Center and will be asked to confirm their phone number on their first visit (to aid with contact tracing).
Please note that check-in on your first visit may take a few minutes as we all adjust to our new process!
Are there capacity limits in place?
Yes. Following guidelines from the Governor, we will have reduced capacity at our facility. At times of full capacity, you will be asked to wait in a designated area until space is available.
How will physical distancing be enforced?
Signs will be posted throughout the facility regarding physical distancing. Floor markers will also be used. Please stay at least six feet away from others when possible. Staff will ask groups to separate if necessary.
What is your cleaning protocol?
Members are asked to use the supplied sanitizing spray before and after they use any exercise equipment. Staff will also be cleaning equipment with an electrostatic sprayer and all high touch areas regularly throughout the day. We will be providing/using EPA approved sanitizing spray and disinfectants to clean all areas.
How do I know it is safe to come back?
We are doing everything possible to keep our Y safe and clean, but only you can make the decision for what is right for you. We will be cleaning high contact surfaces regularly throughout the day and are asking members to wipe down equipment before and after each use. Staff and members are required to wear face masks at all times (except when swimming). Finally, hand sanitizer stations are available throughout the Y.
What can I bring into the Y?
We ask that you only bring a mask, workout towel, exercise mat and a bottle of water. We will not be able to store belongings at the Welcome Desk.
Will reservations be required for everything?
Reservations are required for pool related activities. The current state guidance recommends reservations to mitigate spread by bringing together smaller groups of people. You do NOT need a reservation to enter the Y.
