DAY CAMP
Day campers will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of program opportunities such as swimming, canoeing, archery, nature appreciation, hiking, arts and crafts, songs, skits, special theme activities and many more surprises! Best of all, activities are designed toward the interest and skill levels appropriate for each age group, and all activities promote the four character development principles of Honesty, Caring, Respect and Responsibility. Each camper will experience success-building skills that last a lifetime!
Transportation Update!
Sherman Lake YMCA Camp is committed to providing a transportation option for our day camp programs. Families can secure their spot by registering for a Battle Creek, Kalamazoo or Portage pick-up and drop-off sites when registering. Traditional Day Camp

The sunny days are filled with everything you could imagine for summer fun: archery, swimming, kayaking and canoeing, climbing, camp crafts, s'mores, songs, games and much, much more. Top it off with theme days and Sherman Lake YMCA Camp's character principles of Honesty, Caring, Respect and Responsibility and each day is bound to bring new adventures and achievements!
New for Summer 2021! Search no more as our half-day KinderCamp program will be integrated into our traditional full-day Day Camp program. Beginning at age 4, campers will experience a variety of camp activities that are carefully scheduled to pack in the most fun for our youngest day campers!

Day Horse Camps

Perfect for horse lovers. Half of each day will focus on arena riding with an emphasis on early riding skills, equine anatomy and proper horse care. This camp is for beginning riders or campers with little or no riding experience.

Jr. Robotics Camps

Campers will spend 2 hours each day learning about gears, levers, machines, motors and more, as they build models featuring working motors and sensors, then program their models to get them into action. Materials used will be Lego WeDo and Simple & Motorized Mechanisms kits, as well as Terrapin Pro-Bot cars that use the Logo for Lego programming language, developed at MIT for young students.

Introduction to Robotics

New for Summer 2021! For our campers who are entering 3rd-5th grade and want to practice their engineering and critical thinking skills, we have Introduction to Robotics. Campers will spend 2 hours each day exploring real-world applications for robots, sensors and coding. Campers will also build robots with Lego Boost sets, program a Dash robot to speak, and learn about picture-based programming languages with Ozobot. No previous robotics experience required!

Gilmore Piano Day Camp

Come and play! The Gilmore’s summer music camp is for pianists of all levels and experience. Day campers have daily small group piano lessons and exploration in technology and music-making with Jazzy Jams plus hands-on art projects. In the afternoon, campers will participate in traditional, outdoor camp activities.
An audition is required for all piano campers. Day camp auditions will happen from March to June. Video submissions are welcome. Students will be encouraged to practice daily at home, after the camp day. Enrollment is limited. Call 269-342-1166, or visit Gilmore Piano Camp for more information.

It is our belief that no child shall be turned away due to an inability to pay. Each year, we raise funds to help parents send their kids to camp.
