#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of everyone working together. It is an opportunity for people around the world to stand together in unity⁠⁠— to use their individual power of generosity to remain connected and heal. 

During the pandemic, we’ve been busier than ever at Sherman Lake YMCA, working to meet the critical needs of our community. When the devastating effects of COVID-19 swept across our country and landed on our doorsteps last March, we mobilized quickly:

•  Preparing more than 100,000 meals to distribute to communities in need.

• Distributing boxes of fresh food to families who would otherwise go without.

• Hosting emergency blood drives with the American Red Cross.

• Creating Sherman Lake Scholars, a remote learning program for families of school aged children.

Finally, after closing our summer camp in 2020, we reopened our doors to campers this summer with one of the most impactful summers we've ever been a part of. While we could see the stress, anxiety and trauma that many of our campers and staff carried into camp, we also saw them build resilience and grit through their camp experience and watched some of that stress wash away.

For more than 25 years, Sherman Lake YMCA has been a vital support system for children, families and adults. As our communities build back after the pandemic, we're building back to create a future that everyone deserves.
